Ford at Frankfurt, a Beautiful Jag Concept, and Three Bangers

New York Times Wheels blog reports Ford has unveiled the Focus ST line of high performance, gas sipping Focus'.  Foci.  Whatever.  The ST will punch out 247 ponies from its 2 liter engine and its transmission is mated to a six speed shifter.  Also in Ford's typical America hating style we will not get the wagon version.

What a beaut...Jaguar's C-X16 concept has made it's debut in the flesh at Frankfurt.  The concept is powered by a supercharged V6 engine capable of 375 hp with a hybrid drive system that adds 94 horsies on to that tab.

I've seen a couple of good articles about the incredible shrinking engine in the past week, from the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, respectively.  The core of the issue being how do you get a public to adapt their mentality toward smaller engines.  With better technology and forced induction smaller engines are producing more horsepower than ever and doing it more efficiently, but as Lawrence Ulrich points out in his NYT article how will the public react to the same price tag or an ever higher one for "less" engine?
